Propulsion Marine's electric drives are powerful, efficient, light weight, robust and cost effective. We mount brushless Permanent Magnet A.C. Motors onto industrial gearboxes using proven Sevcon controllers.
Brushless AC motors are more efficient than brushed DC motors and emit less electromagnetic interference (EFI). Permanent magnet electric motors are efficient and maintenance free. We offer both open frame and sealed motors for your marine application.
Browning gearboxes have an integral thrust bearing, are rated for continuous use, raise the motor out of the bilge, and help dissipate the heat from the electric motor. Ten different gear ratios between 1.25: 1 and 5:1 allow for optimization of the motor to the propellor resulting in increased motor efficiency than direct drives.
Sevcon controllers are efficient and powerful in a small footprint design. Gen 4 controllers are fully CAN OPEN compliant for ease of programming, monitoring and troubleshooting. Our system allows for remote mounting of the controller for better heat dissipation.
Propulsion Marine is constantly developing new technologies for the marine market and has an active BETA program for new systems. By partnering with our customers, we are able to develop systems for every application.
DC gensets by Polar Power are the most efficient DC genset made today. We offer 6 different DC gensets from 5KW to 24KW based on Volvo Penta marinized motors.
A full line of Beta Marine diesel engines is available for traditional diesel power. Beta Marine diesel engines are marinized Kubota engines. They are strong, reliable, easy to service, smooth running and have great resale value.
Steyr Motors is the only serial hybrid motor available on the market today. There electric propulsion unit is mounted between the clutch and transmission of a diesel powertrain. This configuration allows for electric motoring, electric boost for the diesel at low rpms and electric generation for propulsion or house needs.

Small, light and robust, this propulsion package gives you precise control over your boat. A sailboat with constant torque on the propellor makes the boat handle and behave far better. Power tacking, zero thrust feathering, regeneration, economy assist mode (the first knot, the one that can make a wind out of nothing, consumes very little power, and can power assist an electric boat for more than 24 hours.
