SERIAL HYBRID by STEYR MOTORS
Steyr Motors introduces the worlds first Marine Serial Hybrid Propulsion System which combines electric and diesel power in one compact package. A permanent magnet brushless DC motor / generator is mounted between the clutch and transmission. The system can be used in zero emission mode, quietly running under electric power alone, or as a boost to low end performance of the diesel motor, or as a generator to replenish propulsion or house batteries. The Hybrid System provides 7 KW of electric power at 48 volts.
