Overview of Perm Motors Water Cooled Electric Motors
We have chosen 3,000 rpm as our peak operating rpm. The limitation is in the gearbox which has a peak rpm of 3,600 rpm. We are conservative in our ratings of everything to give you dependability. You can achieve 10 percent more output from your drive unit.
The gearbox allows us to use smaller, lighter motors turning at higher rpms. Propellors achieve greatest efficiencies at below 1200 rpm. Direct drive motors, although quiet, are substantially heavier and more expensive than these drive units.
